They use any kind of digital resource, often generated in the context of social media platforms. When trying to improve the learning experience, it is crucial that all resources that are potentially useful are accessible; and that the resources are described in a way that allows to identify what is relevant. We suggest enriching learning resource descriptions by combining metadata generated by experts, user interactions, observation components and machine-generated metadata. We give a brief example of the compilation of rich metadata sets by integrating the social media platform ALOE with resources and metadata from the Ariadne knowledge pool and public FlashMeeting replays.}, owner = {memmel} } @INPROCEEDINGS{POS+10, author = {Fernanda Pimenta and Darko Obradovic and Rafael Schirru and Stephan Baumann and Andreas Dengel}, title = {Automatic Sentiment Monitoring of Specific Topics in the Blogosphere}, booktitle = {Workshop on Dynamic Networks and Knowledge Discovery (DyNaK 2010)}, year = {2010}, month = {September}, url = {http://kdd.di.unito.it/DyNaK2010/} } @INPROCEEDINGS{Rostanin2006, author = {Oleg Rostanin and Rafael Schirru}, title = {Identification of User's Learning Goals in Workflows}, booktitle = {Proceedings of the Joint International Workshop on Professional Learning, Competence Development and Knowledge Management - LOKMOL and L3NCD held in conjunction with the 1st European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning}, year = {2006}, pages = {53-58}, month = {October}, owner = {schirru}, timestamp = {2007.09.14}, url = {http://cnm.open.ac.uk/projects/ectel06/pdfs/ECTEL06WS68d.pdf} } @INPROCEEDINGS{Schi10, author = {Schirru, Rafael}, title = {Topic-based recommendations in enterprise social media sharing platforms}, booktitle = {RecSys '10: Proceedings of the fourth ACM conference on Recommender systems}, year = {2010}, pages = {369--372}, address = {New York, NY, USA}, publisher = {ACM}, comment = {checked, from ACM}, doi = {http://doi.acm.org/10.1145/1864708.1864793}, isbn = {978-1-60558-906-0}, location = {Barcelona, Spain}, owner = {schirru}, timestamp = {2010.10.01} } @MASTERSTHESIS{Schirru2007, author = {Rafael Schirru}, title = {Conception and Implementation of an Open and Adaptable Environment for Multidimensional Learning Objects}, school = {University of Kaiserslautern}, year = {2007}, abstract = {Nowadays, knowledge is constantly changing and it is becoming faster and more overwhelmingly available. As a consequence lifelong learning is a requirement which people have to meet in their working as well as their private life. \elearning systems are likely to support lifelong learning. The target of the ALOE project which is currently conducted at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence is the implementation of a brokerage service for all sorts of digital learning content and its associated metadata. Its aim is to offer efficient information retrieval as well as personalized content provision. Further functionalities of social software are intended to connect users and that way enable interaction and collaboration. This diploma thesis starts with an introduction to \elearning and Web 2.0 as this is the context in which the ALOE system has been developed. Next licensing models are introduced which are likely to safeguard intellectual property rights of content contributors. After having had a closer look at the project itself as well as related work, the use cases that had to be implemented are presented. The realization of the system will be described consecutively. For this purpose the management of metadata, the way of enabling adaptability and the means of implementation will be illustrated.}, owner = {schirru}, timestamp = {2007.09.14} } @INPROCEEDINGS{SBFD11, author = {Rafael Schirru and Stephan Baumann and Christian Freye and Andreas Dengel}, title = {Towards Context-Sensitive Music Recommendations Using Multifaceted User Profiles}, booktitle = {The Proceedings of the AES 42nd International Conference}, year = {2011}, pages = {54--59}, month = {July}, owner = {schirru}, timestamp = {2011.07.28} } @INPROCEEDINGS{SBMD11, author = {Rafael Schirru and Stephan Baumann and Martin Memmel and Andreas Dengel}, title = {Topic-Based Recommendations for Enterprise 2.0 Resource Sharing Platforms}, booktitle = {Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information and Engineering Systems}, year = {2011}, editor = {Andreas K\"{o}nig and Andreas Dengel and Knut Hinkelmann and Koichi Kise and Robert J.
