Projects

Current Projects:

Social Media Miner The project Social Media Miner is concerned with the analysis of user-generated content in the Web 2.0. Knowledge discovery techniques are implemented that support automatic topic and trend detection in social media such as the blogosphere and microblogging platforms. For a user's topics of interest, reading recommendations are provided by combining keyword-based search mechanisms with metrics from Social Network Analysis for relevance ranking. This project is financed by the IBB Berlin and co-financed by the EFRE fonds of the European Union from 11/2008 to 10/2010.

Closed Projects:

MACE (Metadata for Architectural Contents in Europe) is a European initiative which aims at improving architectural education. For that purpose it integrates and connects vast amounts of content from diverse repositories, also from past European projects. The system will provide the community with services such as finding, acquiring, using and discussing contents that previously had limited accessibility to small groups. DFKI is partner in the consortium and provides the social media sharing platform ALOE that allows users to upload, share and organize arbitrary types of multimedia content and metadata. MACE is co-funded by the EU eContentPlus program from 09/2006 until 09/2009.
C-LINK (Conference Link) is a web based tool that connects conference attendees and supports individual conference organization. C-LINK will be introduces with the KI 2008 in Kaiserslautern and shall also be deployed for the FOIS conference in Saarbrücken. The system serves as a showcase to present DFKI technologies, e.g., ALOE. Its functionalities comprise among others an individual conference planner, retrieval of users with similar interests, Web2.0 style resource sharing, a white board where users can post messages as well as a chat room. C-LINK is an internal DFKI project funded from 03/2008 until 12/2008.
CoMet stands for Collaborative Sharing of Metadata and can be considered as a brokerage service for all sorts of digital learning content and its associated metadata. For resources efficient information retrieval shall be provided as well as personalized content provision. Further functionalities of social software are intended to connect users and that way enable interaction and collaboration. CoMet is sponsored by the Stiftung Rheinland-Pfalz für Innovation from 04/2007 until 03/2008.
