Semantic Desktop Demo

This is a demo of our Semantic Desktop Prototype. The Semantic Desktop is an effort to use Semantic Web technologies to centralise all the knowledge on your desktop, allowing sharing and reuse of knowledge from different applications.

This demo follows the activities of Claudia, a hypothetical Semantic Desktop user. Claudia has a diploma in information technology and is a project manager at SAP Research in Karlsruhe. She has worked for SAP Research in Karlsruhe for several years. She likes when her projects are successful and the results are transferred and she manages to publish scientific papers. She is interested in Knowledge Management, and has published several papers in this area.

Claudia is now working on a big EU project called CID and she has different tools to control and follow up on the activities in the project. She books meetings with the project members through her calendar and has her laptop with her in meetings to access relevant information and presentations and to write minutes. She often needs to access her own and others calendar and the lists of tasks for the project members. Through these tools she has a clear picture of what needs to be done in the project. Since she uses a lot of tools on her laptop to document the project and its progress she often backs up her data so that she doesn't loose pace in case something should happen.
