I am researcher at the Competence Center Multimedia Analysis and Data Mining (MADM) at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) based in Kaiserslautern/Germany. My major research interests focus on image and video processing, multimedia forensics, and machine learning.

I have received a diploma in electrical engineering from the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany in 2006. After a short stay as software designer for image processing at SciWorks, I switched to DFKI from the beginning of 2007 and received a PhD in computer science from the University of Kaiserslautern in 2015. I am working in the field of content-based image and video retrieval and concept detection in multimedia data. My special research interests include multimedia forensics, information description, optimization, and some general purpose gpu computing.


My current research is dedicated to multimodal concept detection, fusing visual and acoustical data for an improved classification of complex concepts via Deep Learning. Furthermore, I experiment with autoencoders for improved retrieval in large collections.
