A)Rule efforts at ANSI, DARPA, and W3C: Overview of techniques and standards. XML with Document Type Definitions and Schemas. Transformation rules as XSLT stylesheets. Language hierarchy of inference rules in RuleML. Comparison with MathML and Knowledge Interchange Format (KIF) subsets. Event-Condition-Action (ECA) framework. Taxonomy uses within rules: RDFS-RuleML and DAML-Rules. Rule applications in e-business: price discounts, insurance premiums, and purchasing guidelines.
