A)XML-based markup languages as standard formats for Web-distributed knowledge representation, interchange, and integration. Foundations in grammars and logic. Techniques of Document Type Definition (DTD) for XML elements and attributes. XML query languages. Stylesheet Rules (XSLT). Resource Description Framework and RDF/XML Schema. Applications for functional-logic programming (RFML), frames/ontologies (SHOE, XOL), information agents (DAML), and business rules (BRML). Berners-Lee's "Semantic Web" vision.
