Andreas Abecker studied computer science and economics at the University of Kaiserslautern and received the Diploma (master's degree) in 1994. Since February 1995, he is with DFKI. In the Intelligent Engineering Systems department, he worked on knowledge representation (description logics, constraints) and knowledge evolution (theory revision, data mining) issues in the areas of technical configuration, production planning, and knowledge-based scheduling. Since 1996, he is a member of the DFKI Knowledge Management Group. As a researcher in the KnowMore project (Knowledge Management for Learning Organizations) and as project leader of the DFKI part of the European (ESPRIT) KNOWNET project, he investigates organizational, methodological, and technological issues for building Organizational Memories. Special emphasis is laid upon the integration of collaboration and coordination technologies (groupware, workflow), document management, and formal knowledge processing. He wrote and co-authored over 40 refereed publications in Expert Systems and Knowledge Management, initiated a workshop series on AI and Organizational Memories (KI-97, ECAI-98, IJCAI-99), and gives lectures on knowledge-based systems at the Berufsakademie Mosbach and the Umwelt-Campus Birkenfeld, Germany. 

 
 
Tino Sarodnik studied computer science and economics at the University of Kaiserslautern (Germany) and received the Diploma (master's degree) in 1998. Since 1996, he is in the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI GmbH) in Kaiserslautern. Since 1998 he is a member in the Information Management and Document Analysis Lab of the DFKI and he worked as a software engineer in the KnowMore (Knowledge Management for Learning Organizations), ESB (Electronic Fault Recording) and Virtual Office project. Since July 2000, he is in the project Decor (Delivery of Context-Sensitive Organizational Knowledge).

 
 
Heiko Maus studied computer science and mathematics at the Universität des Saarlandes, Saarbrücken (Germany) and received the Diploma (master's degree) in 1997. Since December 1997 he has been working at the Department for Information Management and Document Analysisof the DFKI. 
In the project VirtualOffice he was responsible for the integration of our DAU-System (Document Analysis and Understanding) into workflow management systems. 

Kaies Chaouch: Born in 1975, he studies since October 1995 Computer Science and Engineering at tne University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. He was a working student at Heidelberger Akademie der Wissenschaften (Mar. 1998 - Dec. 1999). Now he's doing his Master Thesis on intelligent ontology-based information access in the music area at the DFKI.

Dr Gregory N. Mentzas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He has a Ph.D. in Operations Research and Information Systems and a Diploma Degree in Engineering, both from NTUA. He holds a Visiting Fellowship from the Royal Society (UK) in the area of "Information Management Systems in Business Transformation and Organisational Learning". He has participated in more than 25 research and consulting projects in the areas of knowledge management; business performance improvement; project management of IT projects; information systems strategy definition; coordination and workflow systems; organisational decision support systems. Dr Mentzas has published more than 20 papers in international journals, like Long Range Planning, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Information Management, International Transactions in Operations Research, Information and Decision Technologies, Journal of Information Technology, European Journal of Information Systems, etc. He was an invited lecturer in the Information Management Session of the Conference: IFORS'93 and organizer of the session "Intelligent Information Systems" in the XIVth EURO Conference.

Christos Halaris: Born in 1972, he graduated in 1995 from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA (National Technical University of Athens). He has worked for 4 years at KANTOR Management Consultants, one of the largest Consulting firms in Greece, acquiring solid experience in the areas of Project and Programme Management, development and evaluation of Business Plans, as well in feasibility studies. He holds an MBA degree from NTUA and AUEB (Athens University of Economics and Business). He is a PHD candidate at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, working currently on the SupplyPoint Esprit Project.

 
Giorgos Papavassiliou: Born 1974, graduated in 1998 from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (Greece). The Diploma Thesis was in the area of Workflow Management Systems applied in Project Management. Holds a Degree of Proficiency in English from Cambridge University. Currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Information Management Unit of ICCS. He worked on the SupplyPoint Esprit project which was about developing an online procurement system.

Spyros Ntioudis:Born on the 22nd of November 1974.Graduated from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of N.T.U.A in 1997. MSc degree in the area of Advanced Information Systems at the University of Glasgow (December 1998).Specialisation in Information Retrieval Systems and in evaluation methods of such systems in the context of the Msc thesis.Degree of Proficiency Cambridge in English, Sorbonne II in French. Phd candidate (since March '99). I am currently working on the KnowNet Esprit Project.

Raphael Koumeri: 44 years old. Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (Greece). Past activities include specialised scientific consultancy for the Ministry of National Economy on Public Procurement issues. National Representative for the Ministry of Industry and Co-ordinator for Community research and training Programmes. National Expert in the CEC DG XIII/A. Currently, Manager of PLANET ERNST & YOUNG's Brussels Office.

Maria Legal holds a Diploma Degree in Chemical Engineering from NTUA (National Technical University of Athens) and an MSc in Engineering Business Management from the University of Warwick (UK). She has worked as an affiliated scientist in the Laboratory of Industrial and Energy Economics, Department of Chemical Engineering (NTUA), participating in projects in the area of Performance Measurement Systems. Currently, she is a Consultant in the Management Consulting Services Unit of PLANET ERNST & YOUNG, working mainly on projects in the area of Knowledge Management.

Bernard Mathot is 37 years old and holds a Degree in Psychological Sciences and in Business Management  (finance and marketing) at Université Libre de Bruxelles. Past activities include management of projects in the domain of Workflow (process analysis and modeling), Electronic Document Management (document exchange, electronic management of mail), Change Management and User Support, Human Resources Management. Most of these projects were carried out in the multilingual and multicultural environment of the European Institutions.

Daniel Haulet is 43 years old and holds a Degree in Computer and human sciences. He worked as a Consultant in CAP GEMINI from 1992 until 1999. Since 1999 he's working in the SEMA Group Belgium as a Human Factors Consulting Manager.

Konstantina Maistrou: Degree in Economics from Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki (Greece) and Systems Analysis certificate (ELKEPA). Since 1984, she is in IKA at the IT Department. Currently, head of the Technical Secretariat at Management Sector. Experience in business management, also in requirements analysis, strategic planning, design, development, audit, evaluation and structured documentation of integrated Information Systems and comprehensive data communication.

 
Zaharenia Nikolopoulou: Head of the Administrative Cooperation Department of the International Relations Division of IKA. Experience in European Union Regulations implementation, in the Social Security domain. Currently participate as a member in a working–group, planning the data collection needed for the Data Base of the large–scale integrated IT System of IKA.

Dr. Stephan Müller is the leader of the software development department. Among his experiences are the development of a document server to support validation processes and the project leadership of a project dealing with multi-lingual hyperlink management. He worked in the EU project INTEC.

Dr. Christian Houy has a strong background in economics and artificial intelligence. He has extensive experiences in modelling with the ARIS toolset, in SAP R/3 related projects, and as a responsible leader of large development projects in the banking sector. He works in the EU project CAPISCE and was a leader of the EU project CIDAM.
